Faryn Davis, of Fernworks, creates dimensional resin landscapes which blend real specimens and minerals with imagery inspired by the natural world. Based in the mountains of Asheville, NC, she blends small hand painted scenes and found specimens such as real grass, lichen, feathers, gemstones, and ethically sourced bones into dimensional resin artwork. Each piece is hand painted with toothpicks and brushes, layered in epoxy, then polished into delicate, dreamlike 3-D landscapes populated by magical symbols, birds, bears, foxes, and other creatures.

Danna Ray is a painter from Western North Carolina. Working on location and from her studio deep in the woods of the Black Mountains of North Carolina, Ray creates landscapes using gestural marks to find immediacy and connection with her surroundings.

This piece is from Danna’s November 2023 collection, Transitions. In Danna’s words: “In this series, I return to familiar landscapes to navigate a time of personal transitions by observing the ever-changing nature of our surroundings.”
